1000 Hills artist, Hannah Paine, opened a new intimate gallery on the picturesque Macnut Farm and Wedding Venue – a life-long dream of hers which also offers local artists a new space in which to exhibit their works. The gallery complements the other attractions on the Macut Farm – gorgeous intimate chapels; a spacious wedding venue; accommodation options and a brand new plant nursery.
International Artist Day
It is fitting that Hannah opened her beautiful new gallery ahead of International Artist Day which is on October 25. Hannah, and husband Paul, put the Covid19 lockdown to good use, investing huge energy and creativity into improvements to the Macnut Farm – creating a new plant nursery, her quaint Chapel of Abundance – a stained glass greenhouse where she grows herbs for the kitchen; further beautifying the extensive lush gardens, and of course establishing her new gallery. This has all helped to develop Macnut into a 1000 Hills destination attraction, complementing the farm as a fabulous bespoke wedding venue.
Her gallery is gorgeous! It is an intimate tall-ceilinged homely room allowing for ample wall space and plenty of depth of field to appreciate the paintings hanging above eye-line. Paintings are displayed around a central beautiful old wooden fire place, up a decorative flight of stairs and covering the huge walls.
Her paintings work perfectly in the space: large canvas florals in muted velvet tones of predominantly lilac, scarlet and purples – her palette of choice. Similar colours are used for her moody evocative portraits, mostly of women, often in rich ornate frocks. She has a selection of nudes, and gorgeous angelic cherubs.
Hannah has an affinity to wild animals, which often feature in her work. There is a series of smaller pieces: close up of faces and details of religious icons from her time spent in Bali.
Bali Inspiration
During a sabbatical in Indonesia in 2010, Hannah had the opportunity and time to reignite her passion for the fine arts. She joined an art group in Ubud, Bali, which met twice a week at the studio and gallery of the acclaimed artist, Pronoto.
Although Hannah is currently focusing on realism, capturing and exploring moods and macro studies through the medium of oil paintings, she is a multi-faceted artist, who has explored many genres in art, including; ceramics, music, writing, fine arts, floral design, interior decor and stained glass design.
Florals
Currently she is working on a series of large format flora – by studying florals and interpreting what she sees onto large canvasses, she captures the micro-detail lost to the naked eye. Some of her floral designs have been printed onto cushions
She started art classes from her home in 2011, where she honed her skills as well as developing her students’ artistic and perspective abilities.
Hannah is passionate about her creations and she naturally radiates her enthusiasm and love for all forms of the arts.
