This weekend we remember and honour Motherhood: our mothers, our grandmothers, our adopted mothers; our carers and those women who play an important role in our lives.
Typically celebrated on the second Sunday in May which this year falls on Sunday 9 May. Mother’s Day is about treats, spoils and family gatherings.
1000 Hills is geared up for the weekend – with special train rides for Mums on the Umgeni Steam Railway and fabulous Sunday lunches and afternoon teas at many of the eateries and restaurants.
Gifts…
…. and gifts galore: from vintage cocktail gowns to antique jewellery; from handcrafted soaps to heritage rose bushes; from mosaic mirrors to quirky wind chimes, and an assortment of edible treats.
There are shopping opportunities this weekend with a Mother’s Day theme– at Shongweni Saturday Farmers and Craft Market; at the fab stalls at Kloof and Highway SPCA; at the old Mushroom Farm; Phezulu; Pot and Kettle; Ludwig’s Roses; the Sunday market at Inchanga Station, and a multitude of pop-up markets and stand-alone shops throughout the 1000 Hills region.
