The Valley of a 1000 Hills Community Tourism Organisation (CTO) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting tourism in this beautiful region of KwaZulu-Natal.
Our role is to showcase the unique experiences, culture, and natural beauty of the Valley of a 1000 Hills while supporting and encouraging sustainable tourism development.
We work with our members and local communities to identify and support new tourism-related products and opportunities, helping to grow the tourism offering of the area.
At the same time, we strive to foster a sense of pride and identity within the Valley, celebrating our heritage and ensuring visitors experience the warmth and hospitality our region is known for.
Whether you are a visitor exploring for the first time or a long-standing community partner, we invite you to discover and share in everything the Valley of a 1000 Hills has to offer.
Benefits of Membership to the CTO
Joining your local CTO is mandatory for tour operators, accommodation providers and eateries. In an effort to provide value to members, the 1000 Hills CTO offers a host of benefits including the following;
- A free listing on the CTO website which as of August of 2025, receives in excess of 30,000 site visits.
- A free entry into the “Visitors Guide” which is available as both a physical brochure and downloadable version. The guides are distributed by Durban Tourism at various activations and shows.
- Inclusion on the map of the region which is included in the Visitors Guide as a pull out and is printed on billboards and placed at 10 separate sites around Durban.
- Representation at trade shows such as the Travel Indaba, WTM Cape Town, the East Coast House and Garden Show and more.
- Representation at local government level.
